Student Diplomats/Delegates Purpose
- Increase public relations for the Colleges of Information Science, Technology and Engineering.
- Generate awareness about careers in Information Technology and Engineering.
- Host distinguished visitors.
- Serve as student representatives on committees and attend designated functions.
- Create an awareness of current student services available to potential and existing students.
- Recruit students through campus and outreach activities for each College.
- Foster communication between students, faculty and administration.
- Further develop personal leadership and communication skills.
- Increase visibility of the College in the high schools.
Requirements
Have a basic understanding/general knowledge of:
- The Peter Kiewit Institute's history.
- The UNOmaha Profile/Facts
- Departments in your college.
- Scholarship and financial aid opportunities (especially The Walter Scott Jr. scholarship)
- Academic and extra curricular activities, both north and south campus (especially student organizations from your college).
General
Diplomats/Delegates shall abide by all applicable rules and policies of the University of Nebraska.
The Advisor retains the right to revoke membership of any Diplomat/Delegate for just cause. A committee comprised of the Advisor, the Associate Dean/Dean of the College and at least one other faculty member will review revocation of membership. This committee will also determine if any or all of the scholarship funding will be repaid to the College.
